RE PETITION FOR SPECI AL LEAVE TO APPEAL

We are today lodging a Petition with the Privy Council

for leave to appeal against the Judgment of the Full Court in

HongKong. The Petitioner is asking to appeal in forma pauperis,

against the conviction of the Criminal Sessions in Hong Kong of

murder.

We understand that notice was given by our Correspondents

in HongKong that they intended to appeal to the Privy Council and

for a respite of the death sentence and that this was given

until the 17th instant. We do not think it is likely, however,

that the Petition will be heard by the Privy Council before

this date, and having regard to the special nature of the case

we hope that it will be possible for arrangements to be made to

delay the carrying out of the sentence until after the Petition
